3D Labelling and Texturing – It’s All In The Details

Date: January 05, 2012

Overview

Objet revolutionized the total customization of rapid prototyping. Objet brings its industry leading detail, technology and precision and has now paired it with texturing and labelling to let you create your own customized prototype, right down to the texture.

Texturing:

Along with appearance, rendering and visualization, texturing now allows for product distinction and customization – which is greatly respected in today’s market atmosphere. 3D texture applications are used to enhance the realism of specific aspects or certain attributes

Labelling:

Labelling permits product recognition to join the product design, along with further enhancing the prototypes resemblance to the final product. It allows the user to determine if there are any flaws or altercation needed to be made. Most importantly, labelling reinforces brand identity and helps provide instruction to the user.

Why Connex?

Connex printers use two printing compounds in concert.  The unique, industry-leading technology provided by Objet’s products allows its user to fully take control and produce subtle discrepancies on a model to model basis. The accuracy in these slight, yet important, differences are essential in the labelling and texturing processes. Labelling and texturing are of the upmost importance when it comes to Gate Reviews. These reviews determine whether or not to continue in the development of the product. With enhanced details, produced from labelling and texturing, a better appreciation and visualization of the final product is possible in the research and development stage.

Tips and Tricks

While working on your CAD file, you must convert it to a STL file. This can be done as a part of the prep for the prototype using Objet Studio software. You may choose different materials to define certain labelling areas. Finally, you can select the thickness of the coat, which ranges from 0.3mm to 3mm and does not affect the tolerance, as it extracts existing material.
