Seal and Plug Away Everyday Problems

Date: August 30, 2011

Seals:

Seals fill the space between two matting surfaces to create a better, tighter, stronger more secure seal. With a proper seal, you are able to prevent leakage.

Plugs:

Used to plug up and stop material from transferring through a hole, plugs are important in drainage systems or to act as a wedge. Plugs are typically made from malleable materials, to allow for the snuggest fit, letting in the least amount of material.

Valves:

Used to regulate the flow of material through a passage, valves are used with plugs and seals to create a solid, reliable passageway. Used in various aspects (such as transportation, commercial, residential, military and industrial) they are common and extremely effective.

Why 3D Printing?

Using Objets industry leading 3D Printing Technology, multiple seals, valves and plugs can be 3D prototype printed at once. This is a cheaper, and less time consuming process exclusive to Objet. These quick and affordable models can be redesigned on a whim to perfect the prototype. More importantly, the Objet 3D prototype is airtight and watertight which gives is a noticeable advantage over competitors.

Connex 3D Printers use two printing compounds in concert.  The unique, industry-leading technology provided by Objet’s products allows its user to fully take control and produce subtle discrepancies on a model to model basis. The accuracy in these slight, yet important, differences are essential in the labelling and texturing processes. Labelling and texturing are of the upmost importance when it comes to Gate Reviews. These reviews determine whether or not to continue in the development of the product. With enhanced details, produced from labelling and texturing, a better appreciation and visualization of the final product is possible in the research and development stage.
